Habitat for Humanity

Minneapolis or St. Paul location

12-15 volunteers needed to assist with construction or remodeling projects on a Habitat house. Volunteers should bring a bag lunch. When signing up, please indicate whether you have tools or experience.

Since Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity began 15 years ago, more than 200 families have purchased their own Habitat homes throughout Minneapolis, St. Paul and the surrounding suburbs. These families have monthly gross incomes that prevent them from obtaining traditional mortgages and lessening their chances of buying a home. Every family who buys a home from Habitat invests 300-500 hours of "sweat equity" work on their own house and/or other Habitat homes. Habitat then sells them a home at an affordable price and without charging any interest. It takes an average of 4000 volunteer hours to complete each house.

Timberwolves

Washburn Child Guidance Center

Target Center
600 1st Avenue North, Downtown Minneapolis

Let the games begin (again)! We are helping out with interactive games before 9 Timberwolves home games again this year. Our participation in this event will benefit Washburn Child Guidance Center. Washburn Child Guidance Center is a mental health agency serving children, adolescents and families. The mission of Washburn Child Guidance Center is to help children at risk lead successful lives. This mission is accomplished through providing diagnostic, therapeutic and education services to children and their families who are experiencing or who are at risk to experience emotional, behavioral or educational problems.

We need 10 volunteers each game to assist with interactive games such as the bungee run and the Inflatable Big Slam. These are games that are set up prior to each Timberwolves game for fans to participate in. Half of all proceeds collected will go to Washburn.

Volunteers should meet in the front of the Administration Office for the Timberwolves between 5:00 - 5:15. This is located on the west side of the Target Center at the entrance to the skyway. If you park in the I-394 Ramp, you walk East through the skyway - right before you enter the Target Center on the Skyway level, you will see a sign that reads "Administration Office Timberwolves/Lynx". Another way of getting there is to enter the Arena Club Entrance and then go up to the Skyway and the Administration Offices will be right there.

We will receive passes that will allow volunteers into the upper-level seating free. Volunteers would need to eat dinner in advance or else after our assignment is complete at 7:00pm. Parking is on your own.
