BBQ, Volleyball, Bocce Ball evening

Minnehaha Falls Park Picnic Area #2.

4825 Minnehaha Avenue South Minneapolis

(See "directions" at right).

We were unable to reserve a pavilion, so lets hope the weather is nice!

An SVTC member's company, Outlaw Graphics, is donating some signs to SVTC - so just look for the sign that reads "Single Volunteers of Twin Cities."

Also for any new members that haven't participated in any events, we are going to have another sign that reads "SVTC New Members." Our welcoming committee will be in that general area to greet you and introduce new members to other volunteers.

There will be a charge of $5 for the event. This fee will go towards the park rental, charcoal, plates, napkins, cups, plasticware, buns, condiments (ketchup, mustard, relish, onions), bug spray, chance to win a gift certificate (exact gift certificate to be determined) and SVTC operations. You just need to bring something to grill, a non-alcoholic beverage, something to share and a chair. Please pay the $5 at the event - exact change is appreciated.

We need some people to bring grills (there are only 2 of them out there) and we need some people to bring folding tables.

If you have a volleyball set and ball that you can bring please let us know (at the e-mail address at the bottom of this message). Also, if you can bring the equipment to set it up (hammer/ladder/etc), that would be great. We have someone bringing one Bocce Ball set. We probably could use a couple more.

We'll also be playing horseshoes. Any other ideas for outdoor activities, please let Sherilyn know at the e-mail address below.

Our June general meeting will be shortened (just a quick update) and combined with this event. There is no limit on the number of members that can attend.

To participate in any SVTC volunteer project or event, you MUST first become a SVTC member. To become a SVTC member, you MUST read the SVTC Volunteer Agreement and complete the SVTC Volunteer Sign Up form. Once you've signed up, you may participate in this event by e-mailing Sherilyn at:  omegamae@aol.com.

Thanks to the social committee for planning this event!

SVTC Hike

Normandale Lake
Near I-494 and Normandale

We will meet at 7:00pm for a hike. The group will divide into different "speed" groups.  We'll form the "fast group" and the "fun group" - so that the faster walkers cover more ground, but everyone meets up at the end.

Directions: From the east, take I494 to the E Bush Lake Road exit (just west of 100). There is no exit to E. Bush Lake Road coming from the west on I-494 so unless you know the area, the easiest way is to go to 100 and use the cloverleaf to turn around and come back to E. Bush Lake Road. Turn south and cross 84th Street. Park in the parking lot on your right.

To participate in any SVTC volunteer project or event, you MUST first become a SVTC member. To become a SVTC member, you MUST read the SVTC Volunteer Agreement and complete the SVTC Volunteer Sign Up form. The percolating rivalry between words and numbers shouldn’t amount to a hill of beans, but Milo finds that Digitopolis and Dictionopolis don’t get along. Old enmities endure, especially after Reason and her sister Rhyme are sent away for making too much sense. This light-hearted concoction mixes allegory, wit, advice, color, and the charm of a literal imagination. Falling down funny. Silent Auction

Mall of America Playhouse Theater in
Camp Snoopy

In our first 9 months, we have grown from 18 people to over 600 members and have contributed over 3000 hours of volunteer service to the Twin Cities Community. This is a good reason to celebrate! This is also your chance to meet the other 599 SVTC members -or a portion thereof!

There will be entertainment (Lighthouse Legal Copy Service has donated a DJ for the event), free appetizers and a cash bar. Get a little dressed up and come on out and dance.

Our fundraising committee is working hard and has collected several items from area businesses and SVTC members. To date we have over $2000 worth of auction, raffle and door prizes. We will provide updates in our regular electronic newsletters of the items collected to date.

We are opening this event to all members and guests (single, married, bosses, coworkers, friends, relatives). Feel free to bring as many guests as you wish. The funds we raise will pay for our everyday expenses such as a future
hotline, P.O. boxes, legal fees, office supplies, letterhead/envelopes, postage, filing fees, etc.

Tickets to the event are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and will go on sale October 1. Tickets will be available for purchase at many of the October events (Marathon, ACS Garage Sale, Great River Greening, Special Olympics, St. Paul Park Cleanup, Simpson House, and Cornerstone projects and the monthly meeting). Make check payable to SVTC.
