Twin Cities Public Television
172 East Fourth Street

10 volunteers needed to help us produce breaks for Suze Orman's newest Pledge Special for PBS. Twin Cities Public Television is creating breaks for National distribution for the March Pledge Drive. In fact, we're taping the show here in the Twin Cities. This is a bit more formal than our usual Pledge breaks, but we're still planning on having some fun. Here's the scoop:

We're asking that folks wear business attire (it's a show about smart money
after all) and that it also be neutral for weather as these breaks will be shown in warmer climes so we ask that no sweaters or heavy suit coats/blazers be worn. Food will be provided.

Opening Night
"Main Street"

Great American History Theatre

30 East 10th Street

"Main Street" reached an American audience hungry for social satire in what would be the debunking decade of the 1920"s Although not written as satire, it was critically acclaimed as one. Carol Kennicott is an intelligent and idealistic young bride who has moved from the Twin Cities with her new husband to the small town of Gopher Prairie. Soon, she begins her revolt against ignorance, meanness and the hardship of rural life. She must change this town or die trying! This adaptation is filled with comedy satire and pathos."

SVTC volunteer
picnic and fundraiser!

Coon Rapids
 Dam Regional Park

9750 Egret
Blvd. NW
Coon Rapids

(Just off Coon Rapids Blvd.)

Grab your picnic toys and join the rest of your fellow SVTC members for some fun in the sun at Shelter #1.  This event will be one of our very few fundraisers for the year.  $5 admission buys lots of fun - volleyball, bocce ball, croquet, games and contests, and sharing good food and good conversation with old and new friends.

Friends and children are welcome to attend!

This park has wonderful walking/rollerblading trails along the river (including a pathway across the dam), a large covered shelter for us, and clean, modern restrooms!

The picnic site and parking are free for SVTC courtesy of Anoka County Dept. of Parks and Rec., as thanks for the work we have done at the park through National Park Service.  (THANK YOU Volunteers!) That means that 100% of your $5 donation goes to help cover SVTC expenses throughout the year, which helps us keep your annual membership dues at a very reasonable $0.00.

Please bring $5, a lawn chair, your favorite beverage (yes, beer and wine are allowed) a dish to share (to make sure we have a variety of dishes --- please try to bring something that starts with the first letter of your first or last name), and something to grill if you so desire. Hot grills, paper plates, utensils, napkins, and condiments will be provided.

Please contact Karen H. at kheuchert@yahoo.com if you can bring lawn games or extra grills, or if you are interested in helping to organize other games or contests.

Please contact Cindy at cindyarlt@yahoo.com if you are willing to spend an hour as greeter or cashier.

Thanks Volunteers!  See you there!

...

As of Thursday night...I have 12 tickets sold.4 more on the way?. Unless we sell at least 9 more we have to pay full price at valley fair. (About 10-15$ more)
The discount will only happen with 25 people buying tickets. No checks have been cashed yet, and all will be returned if we fall short of 25.

We expected a greater turnout. I was hoping this email would not be necessary but, now it is. I think however the event should go on as planned.

I will send an email update on Saturday. If you can get additional people together who will pay $20....let me know by Saturday. (but, just pay me cash at valley fair, its too late for mail now)  If we make 25....I will write a single check to valley fair from my account. (their policy)

I apologize for this glitch. I was hoping for smooth sailing but its going to go down to the wire....I hope people won't cancel if full price is unavoidable.

KTIS & Heart of the City is hosting Summer Picnic Music Fest 2003 at the State Fair on Saturday, June 28 from 11 am to Fireworks. There will be free activities & music, food vendors and fireworks. Plus the main stage (at $20/ticket) will have Nicole C. Mullins, the Katinas, the Ragamuffins & Sonic Flood playing throughout the day.

Summer is the hardest time on families because kids are not receiving free or reduced meals at school-making the family budget tighter. Families then must turn to their local food shelf.
